I'm still recovering from this latest illness. Not how I intended to kick off the year. I’m probably in the 90% range though and want to dive back in. I feel a little derailed due to the past few weeks, but I do know I can bounce back and achieve what I set out to do for the beginning of the year. I want to push forward and finish up the In the Beginning… Series, and then get started on a weirder series that explores character animation. It’s still a little fuzzy around the edges, but I hope to have it coming along in early February. I am super excited to begin figuring out how to animate in Unreal Engine.

I am also super excited to see others exploring animation in Daz! I know it can be done, but until it becomes more real time, I think it is not for me. I love creating the images in Daz, but the rendering can be too painful for me when it comes to animation. Again, thus why I am exploring Unreal Engine. There are so many people and studios embracing this workflow, that it leaves me super stoked to learn and work with it. Part of this is figuring out how to get the Daz Characters into Unreal for animation.

There are a good four to five processes I’ve been watching, and I need to learn each to discover what will work best for my situation. Everyone is different and that’s part of the appeal to me about Unreal. There is no one way cookie cutter approach. You can achieve this in many different ways, and need to find out what works best for you or your organization. I totally love this! It makes it approachable once you get past the learning curve.

So far, I keep getting blown away each time I see something. Yes, there is a ton of work to do, but once you've got it, you’re in, then each iteration gets easier and easier as you become familiar with it. I’m just at that extreme newbie phase right now. By the end of the year, I hope to be a bit more versed in my knowledge of Unreal. Then that is where the true magic is going to begin. Keep working hard. Keep smiling. Keep moving forward!!!
