The 9th image for the 2023 Halloween Countdown
"Bat" was the 9th image prompt for the Halloween Countdown 2023.
I knew about this cute fuzzy bat on the Daz store by The AntFarm, which I knew I wanted to use. The model is called Bitty Bat. I adore it!
Once I decided what assets I wanted to use, I built out the scene.
Then I messed around to find the right camera angle. I remember this one was a little troublesome because I could not find an angle that was how I felt was solid.
I also remember struggling with the fur. Every time I altered the pose, the fur did not follow and was disconnected. I eventually figured it out and was able to get everything aligned to how I liked, but I believe this one took me much longer than an hour to arrive at.
Some items, like the fur, do not render in the Iray preview. There may be a setting that I don't know about that would solve this, but typically I use the preview to make sure everything is placed where I want it and that it looks good.
After the final render, it's off to Photoshop and Lightroom for the final touches. I did not grab any screen captures in those tools, because there is not much I do. In Photoshop I might clean up some bad pixels and add the TorenCastle logo. In Lightroom, I play with various colors and may try out a few LUTs to get to something I like.
Looking at this image again, I would touch up the shininess of the pumpkin to knock out those little reflections. Maybe I'd try to bring in a little smile on Bitty Bat. Other than that I think it is a cute fun Halloween scene.
